Employee Gets a De-Gloving Finger Injury

On October 5, 2012, Employee #1 of Golden State Bridge Inc., was attempting to dismount the flatbed portion of a Ford F450 pickup truck. Employee #1 placed his left hand on top of the "headache rack" which protects the truck's cab and stepped backward toward the ground. In doing so, his wedding ring caught on a small flanged edge of the rack causing a severe de-gloving injury to his left ring finger. Employee #1 was driven by a co- worker to a local hospital and from there was airlifted to a hospital in San Francisco, CA where he was admitted for several days and underwent extensive medical treatment.
