Employee Electrocuted While Trimming Tree

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on March 7, 2012, Emplpoyee #1 was working from the third step of a 10 ft aluminum ladder cutting palm fronds from a tree 30 ft high using an aluminum extendable manual pole saw. Employee #1 was attempting to cut a palm frond with a distribution line directly underneath, at 31 ft from the ground. As Employee #1 began to cut the frond the weight of the frond in combination with the cutting action and force of the saw caused the frond to lower and contact the distribution line. Employee #1 was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
