Employee Is Injured When Struck by Falling Truss, Later Dies

On January 20, 2012, Employee # 1 was working on a multiple employers' construction site for residential home. Employee # 1 and coworkers were positioning trusses above an exterior doorway, and attaching the trusses to the support framework. Employee #1 and Employee # 2 with five trusses were elevated approximately fourteen-feet above ground-level on a platform by a rough-terrain forklift. Employee # 1 lost his balance and fell from the platform to the ground below, and landed on his feet. Employee # 1 was struck in the head by one of the trusses as he stands on the ground. Employee # 1 immediately fell to the ground unconscious, and sustained severe head-wound. Employee # 1 later died at the hospital.
