Employee Suffers Finger Amputation While Using a Band Saw

On October 5, 2012, Employee #1 of Northgate Gonzales LLC., was cutting meat using a band saw meat cutter manufactured by Butcher Boy when she suffered amputation of the left index and middle fingers and partial finger amputation and laceration of the left ring finger. The blade was measured at 1/2 inch in width. Employee #1 has not been instructed to lower the guard to cover the saw blade to protect her fingers. Employee #1 was cutting meat possibly 4" by 4" by 3" when the meat quickly rolled up and towards the blade taking her fingers into the blade.
