Event: 06/22/2012
Worker Lacerates Fingers on Noodle-Making Machine

On June 22, 2012, Employee #1 was a new employee working as a kitchen helper in a fast food restaurant. He was being trained on different tasks, including the use of a noodle-making machine manufactured by the Samwoo Industry Company. The narrative stated that the model and serial number were not available for this small countertop machine. At the time of the incident, he was not expected to perform any task on this machine. While he had some spare time, he decided to familiarize himself with the noodle-making machine. He activated it and, while nobody was watching him, somehow got his right hand caught in the rollers of the machine. Employee #1 sustained severe lacerations and nerve injury to multiple fingers on his right hand. He was treated and hospitalized for two days. Employee #1 was not a contract employee. The Fullerton, CA, Fire Department reported the incident to DOSH on June 22, 2012.
