Employee Is Injured When Wall Panel Falls from Crane

At approximately 10:53 a.m. on August 31, 2011, Employee # 1 was working for McCarthy Construction Inc. performing wall stripping duties form a 6 feet wide by 25 feet high wall. Employee # 1 failed to connect the Crane to the wall panel. The wall panel fell forward on top of Employee # 1 and fractured his left leg. Employee # 1 was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital and died approximately 12 hours later in the hospital. The San Diego Fire Department reported the accident to DOSH (Division of Occupational Safety and Health) on the same day and an accident investigation was opened on September 1, 2011.
