Homeless Shelter Worker Is Killed by Agitated Client

At approximately 10:00 a.m. on January 29, 2011, an employee at a homeless shelter in Lowell, MA, was assisting a teenage client. The client was in an agitated state, and the employee was trying to calm him down. Suddenly, the client attacked the employee with a knife, opening a laceration on the employee's neck. Lowell police responded to the scene to subdue the client and arrest him. The employee was flown to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he died. The client was charged with murder.
