Employee Loses Finger in Bagmaking Machine

At approximately 11:00 a.m. on August 3, 2010 Employee #1 was training another coworker on how to operate the Parkins Plastics Machinery, Baja Two Bottom Seal Bagmaking machine. Employee #1 reached over to grab a rubber piece away from the plastic being fed into the rollers because it was crinkling the plastic. When Employee #1 grabbed the rubber piece, the machine was still turned on and the roller grabbed her right middle finger resulting in an amputation.
