Worker Amputates Finger When Struck by Clamps on Trash Truck

On June 21, 2011, Employee #1, a 48-year-old male with Waste Management Inc., was removing a broken trash can clamp assembly from the back of the service truck. The arms of the clamp arm were resting against the side took bins on the truck. As Employee #1 pulled out the clamp with his hands, the clamp arms slid past the tool bins, falling down and catching the tip of his index finger. Employee #1 was taken to Fresno community Hospital, where he was hospitalized for an amputation treatment.
