Event: 10/08/2012
Employee's Thumb Caught in Chain

On October 8, 2012 Employee #1, a laborer, working on a grape harvester was attempting to determine where the jam was inside the conveyor bucket system on the harvesters upper level. A coworker had removed a couple guards so they could visually see the buckets. As Employee #1 was looking at the buckets, he rested his right hand on top of the frame. As Employee #1 turned to tell his coworker to wait, the coworker turned the buckets on and Employee#1's thumb was caught by the moving bucket and was pinched between the bucket and the frame work. Employee #1 sustained a crushed right thumb and was hospitalized for several days.
