Employee Is Injured When Hand Is Caught in Splitter

On April 6, 2011, a laborer for an orchard and vineyard farmer was pulling on the tongue of a wood splitter to move it closer to a second wood splitter. The laborer got the tongue close to the second wood splitter but misjudged the distance between the two splitters and got his middle finger on his left hand caught between the two splitters. The employee's middle finger tip was amputated from the crushing injury. He was not hospitalized for his injury.
