Employee Injures Hand in Packaging Machine

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on July 5, 2012, Employee #1 was operating a packaging machine (Number 10). The machine jammed and the employee began reaching around a guard and placing her hands into the point of operation of the packaging machine to clear the jam. Employee #1 sustained a crushed left thumb and an amputation of the tip of the left index finger. The employee was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated and released after 24 hours.
