Employee's Hand Is Struck and Injured by Hedge Trimmer

On September 14, 2011, Employee #1, a landscape maintenance worker, was trimming bushes with a gasoline powered TMC hedge trimmer. He was landscaping a sloped area located outside a residential community. As he stood on the slope, he lost his balance on the wet ground. Employee #1 fell down the slope with the running hedge trimmer. The trimmer struck and injured his right hand, causing tissue and nerve damage on the index finger, bone loss on the middle finger, and tissue damage on the ring finger. After the accident, he went to one of the houses and asked the homeowner to call his supervisor. The homeowner gave him ice and wrapped his hand with a towel. When the supervisor arrived, he transported him to a medical center. Employee #1 underwent surgical procedures on this hand, and he was hospitalized for four days.
