Investigation Summary
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on June 11, 2011, Employee #1 was thinning apples in a 10-ft. tree. Employee #1 was standing on a limb of the apple tree while using his left hand to hold onto a wire separating the apple trees. Employee #1 lost his grip on the wire and fell 3 ft. to 5 ft., striking his head and face on the trunk of the apple tree. Employee #1 received a bump on his head, minor lacerations and an unknown injury to his left leg. Employee #1 was hospitalized and treated for his injuries. Further investigation recorded that the employer did not provide ladders to the employees for the thinning process.
