Investigation Summary

Investigation Nr: 202469458
Event: 09/30/2010
Employee Is Injured in Fall from Roof

At approximately 11:15 a.m. on September 30, 2010, Employee #1 was using a G-Force direct-drive pressure washer to clean a roof section that measured 15 feet by 13.6 feet. His employer specialized in the coating and maintenance of roofs. As Employee #1 was walking backwards with the pressure washer towards the edge of the roof, his foot contacted the roofs parapet that measured 14 inches high. This caused Employee #1 to lose his balance and fall about 21.5 feet to the ground. Employee #1 called for help to nearby coworkers at which point, emergency services were contacted. Employee #1 was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was hospitalized and treated for a severely fractured arm, pelvis, and internal bleeding. The accident investigation revealed that the employer was cited for violating requirements for eliminating roof hazards (T8CCR 1730(b)).
