STRUCK BY

The victim was part of an electrical line crew that was tearing down an old H-structure (Old Time Transmission Structure). An H-structure is two wooden poles side by side 15-20 feet apart. Timbers connect the two poles together. Victim was removing the conductors and suspension insulators from the timbers using a Digger/Derrick. He was operating the crane portion of the Digger/Derrick. A section of one of the poles broke and fell on the victim striking him in the head. Another employee (an Apprentice Lineman) of the crew was in a bucket and the timber fell on him in the bucket when the pole broke. He hurt his leg and was transported to the hospital with a possible broken leg.
