Employee Suffers Amputation When Thumb Is Caught in Conveyor

On July 1, 2010, Employee #1 was working on a conveyor system guiding pizza crusts through the conveyors. Pizza crusts had started to fall between two separate conveyor ends. Employee #1 tried to catch a pizza crust from falling through and got her right thumb caught between the conveyors. Her thumb was amputated. Paramedics had to retrieve the glove that had her thumb in it and get it to the hospital so that it could be reattached. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
