Investigation Summary
On November 16, 2010, Employee #1 was operating a table saw. He was cutting a piece of wood to be used as oak trim for cabinets. Employee #1 operated the saw with the saw blade guard in place. As he pushed the wood into and pass the saw blade, the blade struck a knot in the wood, causing the wood to kick back and up. Employee #1's forward momentum caused his left hand to contact the blade, which resulted in the amputation of an unspecified finger. Employee #1 was transported to a medical center. At the medical center, he received treatment and care and was then hospitalized.
