Employee's Feet Are Fractured When Run over by Forklift

On May 3, 2011, Employee #1 attempted to get the attention of an operator, concerning a message. While attempting to get the attention of the operator, Employee #1 entered the steering axle turning radius of a forklift being operated by another employee. The operator was looking and turning the forklift away from Employee #1. When the forklift started forward, one tire of the steering axle struck and crushed Employee #1's feet, resulting in multiple fractures to both feet. After hearing the yelling, the operator stopped and then had to back off Employee #1's feet. The operator called for help, and someone summoned emergency medical services. Employees provided emergency first aid until Employee #1 was stabilized and transported to the local hospital. Employee #1 was later transported by air to a hospital in Idaho, for additional surgery. He was hospitalized.
