Investigation Nr: 201639457
Event: 07/15/2010
Employee Fractures Both Wrist in Fall from Roof

On July 15, 2010, a roofing employee was working on a roof of about 0.667 pitch laying down felt on the sheeting. He had finished the second layer of felt and was walking to get another roll of material when the felt rolled out from the staples and caused him to fall. He slid about 6 to 8 ft down the roof to the eave and then fell about 10.5 ft from the eave to the ground below. The employee was not using a personal fall protection system and no slide guards were installed. The employee broke both wrists, when he landed on the ground. The employee was hospitalized and treated for fractured wrists.
