Employee Fractures Leg and Back in Fall from Tree

At approximately 12:00 p.m. on July 11, 2011, Employee #1, a Landscaper/Supervisor for Samuel Vargas Garden and Landscaping Service, was climbing a tree to do minor tree trimming. Employee #1 fell approximately 10 to 18 ft, landing on sandy ground and fracturing both femurs and his C1 vertebrae. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital and treated for the injuries he sustained in the fall. A qualified tree worker was not present onsite, but another coworker was on site during this incident.
