Employee Is Killed by Falling Granite Slabs

At approximately 9:15 a.m. on April 12, 2010, Employee #1 was on the flatbed trailer of a truck while unstrapping granite slabs which were about to be unloaded. The slabs were resting on both sides of two A-frame supports which were located on the flatbed trailer. The slabs were secured to the trailer by four straps and each bundle of slabs were secured together with one strap. When Employee #1 released the straps, the slabs, on both sides of the A-frame supports, fell from the flatbed trailer to the ground causing fatal head injuries to Employee #1.
