EMPLOYEE KILLED WHEN STRUCK BY A TREE

At 10:10 a.m. on September 15, 1986, Employee #1 felled a Douglas fir tree approximately 150 feet in length and 37 inches in diameter. As the tree was falling it brushed a standing fir tree located slightly up the hill, approximately 35 feet away. Upon being brushed by the falling tree, the standing tree snapped at about mid section and the top half of the tree fell on Employee #1 as he was trying to get out of the way. Employee #1 died of traumatic injuries to the chest.
