Employee Is Hit by Mechanical Press Part, Fractures Hand

On February 3, 2010, Employee #1 was working on Machine Line #2, in the Freezer #2 Department when she noticed that chicken parts were jammed on the conveyor. Employee #1 attempted to unjam conveyor. Employee #1 stated the chicken parts were starting to fall off conveyor so she reacted by sticking her hand near the in-going nip point and trying to unjam chicken from the roller. Employee #1's hand got caught, causing a degloving. The procedure was to get the supervisor, but that supervisor was not readily available. The cause of the accident was not having the ingoing nip point guarded. The nature of the injuries was not specified in the original narrative.
