Investigation Summary
At approximately 8:00 a.m. on July 16, 2010, Employee #1, a fireman recruit and classmates were participating in an exercise, using an axe cut along a rafter on a small vent prop. After 5-6 recruits completed the task, Employee #1 stepped up to begin the task. He began to have difficulty ascending the prop and trouble following instructions and was confused. As he exited the prop, recruits came to his assistance. Employee #1 was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.
