Investigation Summary
At approximately 7:45 a.m. on June 17, 2009, an employee was engaged in activities that included dragging 100-pound lengths of flexible steel vacuum hose. A few minutes after telling a coworker that he needed to stop for a break, he collapsed and was unresponsive. Preliminary observations from the coroner included an enlarged heart, but no stroke. The employee was not involved in exertion at the time of his collapse and there was no indication of elevated carbon monoxide levels or excessive heat. The employee's death was not work-related but was a result of a health condition on the part of the employee.
