Employee Falls Off Two Story Roof

At approximately 10:00 a.m., on March 16, 2011, Employee #1 a carpenter of Earl Construction fell approximately 21 feet when he slipped off the edge of the roof. Employee #1 was not wearing fall protection. At the time of the accident, he was installing rafters in the attempt to make the supports for the roof. Employee #1 and Employee #3 were placing and securing the rafters of the house. The rafters were located next to the edge of the roof at a height of approximately 21'. There was not any fall protection at the edge of the roof and Employee #1 was not wearing any personal fall protection. As Employee #1 was moving the rafter in place he slipped and fell. As a result of the fall Employee #1 was hospitalized for more than 24 hours and received medical treatment for a broken arm, neck pain and neurologic deficiencies.
