Investigation Summary

At approximately 9:30 A.M., on October 21, Employee #1, a 58 year-old male with Timber Wolff Construction Inc., was involved in a motor vehicle collision at the rear alley of a shopping center where the employer was performing construction work for one of the stores. LA County Sheriff responded to the event and completed a Traffic Collision report. There were 2 trucks involved in the accident: Employee #1 was operating a truck and an independent contractor was operating the second truck. At the time of incident Employee #1 truck was parked. The parked truck contained goods and was parked at the rear alley. This tuck did not have a built in lift to facilitate unloading of goods so the independent contractor operating the second truck was contracted to unload the goods. The plan was for the independent contractor to position his truck at the rear of the truck operated by Employee #1 and to use the lift of second truck to unload Employee #1's vehicle. The independent Contractor unintentionally backed into Employee #1 while he was in between the two vehicles and suffered injuries in the event. LA County Fire and Police responded Employee #1 was taken to County USC Hospital where was hospitalized for at least four days. Employee #1 was the superintendent of the job site. No citations were issued.
