Employee's Head Is Injured When Struck by Granite

On June 22, 2009, two workers were loading a slab of granite into a pickup truck in the parking lot of a marble and granite distributer/installer. Employee #1 was standing in the back of the truck guiding the load into a rack. A coworker was operating a forklift to maneuver the slab. While Employee #1 was pulling on the slab of granite, it fell back toward him. He fell out of the truck to the ground. The slab of granite struck the side of the truck bed, broke apart, and a piece fell onto Employee #1. He was hospitalized at Mercy San Juan Hospital for head trauma, including a fractured skull.
