Employee Struck By Falling Tree And Branch Is Killed

At approximately 9:00a.m., on April 15, 2009, Employee #1 was struck in the head and killed by falling trees and branches. At the time of the accident an coworker was on a Kamotzu track hoe pushing a tree over to clear a way for a new road. The coworker pushed the tree over intending for it to fall uphill. Instead the tree fell to the right in the direction of Employee #1. Employee #1 was approximately 110 feet from the base of the tree that was pushed over along the embankment. The tree that was pushed fell along with another dead tree knocking down a large branch out of another tree. The tops of the falling trees and the large branch from the other tree fell onto Employee #1 hitting him in the head and body killing him.
