Employee's Head Is Injured When Struck by Falling Load

On December 9, 2008, two employees of Verona NC Inc. were utilizing a Toyota fork truck to load 8 ft-high by 10 ft-wide by 2 in.-thick granite slabs (that each weighed approximately 2,000 lbs) onto a Verona truck. One employee was operating a fork truck while Employee #1 was standing below the raised load to steady the slabs. During this process, a slab slipped from the forklift clamp and fell approximately 4 ft onto Employee #1. He was hospitalized for a concussion.
