Event: 07/30/2010
Employee's Thumb Is Injured When Caught in Tension Roller

On July 30, 2010, Employee #1, a mechanic, was working for a corrugated cardboard manufacturer. The employee and a coworker were troubleshooting a conveyor system, in the production area of the plant, that was not working properly. The employee laid down on the floor to look into the drive belt system while the coworker was on top looking through the rollers. The employee reached into the drive system to point to a tension roller that he thought was the problem. The coworker attempted to stop him but the tension roller caught his left thumb and injured it. Employee #1 sustained an unspecified injury to his left thumb and was hospitalized.
