Investigation Summary
At approximately 6:00 a.m. on July 10, 2010, Employee #1 was working in a plum orchard when he started experiencing chest pains. He did not feel that he was in distress and decided to stay on site and rest. While standing under a shaded canopy and talking on the phone at around 11:45 a.m., he experience lightheadedness and fainted. Coworkers performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on him and summoned emergency medical personnel. Emergency medical personnel arrived and transported him to a medical center where he was pronounced dead. The medical coroner stated that the cause of death did not involve heat stress, but was a case of evolving myocardial infarction.
