Employee Is Injured in Fall from Elevated Platform

At approximately 2:15 p.m. on February 27, 2009, Employee #1, a production group lead, was retrieving a broom from an elevated platform when he fell through an opening in the platform floor that measured 15 inches by 15 inches. His foot came in contact with a screw auger that was located just under the platform opening. This resulted in Employee #1 suffering from an open fracture on his right leg and amputated first and second toes on his right foot. Employee #1 was taken to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California, where he was hospitalized and treated for his injuries.
