Event: 10/20/2008
Employee Fractures Leg When Granite Slabs Fall

At 11:00 a.m. on October 20, 2008, Employee #1 was delivering a granite slab that weighed between 300 lb to 400 lb. This process was achieved by using a forklift with an extension that had a clamp at the end. The clamp was then attached to the slab, locked in place, and then unloaded from the truck. As Employee #1 was attaching the clamp and attempting to lock it in to place, the forklift tilted causing the slab to fall in the direction of Employee #1. He fractured both bones in his lower left leg. He was transported to CRMC and was hospitalized until November 11, 2008.
