Employee Is Struck by Falling Steel Bundle, Later Dies

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on November 11, 2009, Employee #1, a semi-truck driver was delivering long bar steel stock, 26-feet long. He was standing beside his semi-trailer as it was being unloaded by a powered industrial truck. As the fork lift operator was positioning the forks under the steel to lift it from the truck, one bundle of steel, weighing approximately 2,700 pounds, fell from the trailer and struck Employee #1 in the lower section of his body. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
