Investigation Summary
While digging with an excavator for the installation of a pop-jet vault, it was believed that a waterline was hit. The excavator operator lifted the line out of the excavation, and Employee #1 attempted to cut the line with a cutter. The line turned out to be a live 17kV main electrical line. The electric current entered Employee #1's body in his hand and exited through his feet. He suffered electrical burns on his hands and legs and was hospitalized.
