Employee's Leg Is Fractured, Knee Is Injured in Fall

On July 7, 2009, Employee #1 and a coworker were removing old windows from the second floor of a building. The windows were being set on a 0.5-in. piece of particle board that was lying across the forks of a forklift. The forks were approximately 15 ft above the ground and 5 ft below the second story window sill. They climbed onto the particle board and the particle board broke. They both fell 15 ft to the ground, landing on their feet. Employee #1 fractured his right femur and injured his left knee. The coworker had a sore back but his injury was not recorded. Employee #1 was hospitalized.
