Employee Fractures Leg When Struck by Falling Object

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on November 10, 2010, Employee #1, a Driver / Laborer of Associated Trucking, Incorporated, was inside the warehouse emptying a box of debris. A large block of concrete, approximately 1.5 ft to 2 ft in. diameter, rolled in the direction of Employee #1. He tried to get out of its way, but his foot slipped. Consequently, the concrete block hit the lower portion of his right leg, breaking his leg. Employee #1 was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment and surgery tohis right leg. There were no serious accident related violations cited because there were no standards that apply. Other violations were noted, and the employer was cited accordingly.
