Event: 06/12/2009
Employee Is Injured in Fall from Scaffold

At approximately 8:31 a.m., on June 12, 2009, an employee was prepping the necessary tools and supplies to paint from the scaffold. When he was ready, he began to ascend the ladder on the scaffold. The employee's foot slipped off the rung of the ladder and he fell approximately 13 feet into the street. When he fell, he was able to land on both feet and fell backwards in pain. Nearby customers of a coffee shop called the emergency services. The employer drove back to the site to see the employee. The employee was taken to San Francisco General Hospital where he was treated for his fractured and compressed vertebrae. He was hospitalized for 6 days. There were no witnesses.
