Employee Is Crushed by Stone Slabs

At approximately 1:43 p.m., on January 30, 2012 Employee#1 was seriously injured while working for Tile Marble Center Inc. The accident occurred at the retail facility and business office. The accident occurred in an outdoor area where slabs of stone are stored on edge, on steel "A-frame" storage racks. During the accident Employee #1 and his coworker were looking at stone slabs when unexpectedly, the A-frame storage rack failed causing up to thirteen slabs of stone to fall over and crush Employee #1. Employee #1 was transported to USC Medical Center by helicopter where he was treated in the emergency room for trauma to the head and chest resulting in hospitalization for 32 days and a state of comatose in excess of 5 months
