Employee Falls at Work, Later Dies

On Friday February 13, 2009, an employee went back to work at his workplace and was the last day he worked. The employee did not report being injured to the management. On Monday February 16, 2009, the employee was seen by a doctor at Intercommunity Hospital in Covina, CA and was released. On February 18, 2009, the employee was transported via ambulance to Citrus Valley Medical Center due to pains, where he stayed until his death on February 19, 2009 at 6:27 p.m. The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office performed an autopsy on the employee on February 21, 2009 and ascribed the death to Pulmonary Embolus due to a Deep Vein Thrombosis due to a fall. There was no actual witness to the employee's fall on February 12, 2009 while crushing boxes using his feet. Four coworkers observed the employee on the following day Friday February 13, 2009, including the employee's supervisor. All four did not notice any injury to the employee. Coworker #1 and a friend of the employee outside of work, spent February 13 and 14 together socially. During this time spent according to Coworker #1, the employee complained of pain in his leg due to falling while breaking apart boxes on February 12, 2009.
