Sheet Metal Worker Smashes and Later Amputates Two Fingers

On September 8, 2008, Employee #1, a 49-year-old male, with Hawkeye Sheet Metal was bending pieces of steel when the steel slipped up and over the guides in the machine. This motion caused Employee #1 to lose his balance and in the process two of his fingers were smashed. Employee #1 was taken to the hospital and the two fingers had to be amputated at the first digits.
