Employee Is Struck by Bull, Later Dies

On April 26, 2009, Employee #1, a dairy milker, and the dairy owner were removing a broken section of cable fencing that was between two cow pens. The owner was operating a backhoe that was located on the outside of the pens. Employee #1 was inside an empty pen while they attached the cable to the backhoes front bucket. As the owner turned around in the seat to assure they could back up and not run into anything, Employee #1 crossed through the fence and went into a pen that held a few cows and a bull. The bull immediately struck Employee #1, ramming him into a steel post. He was able to scramble back into the empty pen after being struck. Employee #1 was transported to the hospital and died later in the day from internal injuries.
