Employee Is Burned by Acid

On September 21, 2008, Employee #1 was on top of a Cornmash tank. The tank was over pressured and acid, with a PH of 3, came out of the top of the tank and burned the employee. He was flushed with water until the fire department and paramedics arrived. Employee #1 sustained eighteen to twenty second degree burns and was hospitalized. Since accident, a pressure relief system and tank have been installed, and the top of tank was secured. New procedures also ensure that the no employee will be on top of the tank, while it is in operations.
