Event: 07/15/2010
Employee Is Injured When Run over by Trailer

At approximately 8:49 a.m. on July 16, 2010, an employee was walking from one end of the celery field to the other end when a tractor, pulling a 1600 gallon water tank trailer, traveling in reverse, hit the employee in the right shoulder. The employee felll in the path of the water tank trailer, and the trailer's front left tire ran over the employee's lower body, fracturing his pelvic bone. The tractor driver felt the water move violently in the tank so he stopped the tractor, got off, and found the employee lying face up between the tractor and trailer. There were no witnesses; the rest of the crew was walking ahead of the victim. The emergency medical services were called and San Luis Obispo Sheriff's personnel, Guadalupe Police Department, Guadalupe Fire Department and ambulance all responded. The employee was taken to Marion Medical Center and later to Cottage Hospital where he was in the intensive care unit for two weeks. The employee sustained a fractured pelvic bone, cracked scapula and clavicle and internal bleeding.
