Employee Sustains Facial Injuries When Assaulted by Inmate

At 3:37 a.m. on Aug. 19, 2009, Employee #1 was assaulted by an inmate while conducting an unclothed body search of the inmate at the receiving and release center at North Kern State Prison in Delano, California. Employee #1 sustained facial injuries, when the inmate struck him on the left side of his face with his fist. In addition, when he fell backwards, he struck against a concrete floor and sustained a blunt force trauma to the back of his head. Employee #1 was transported to San Joaquin Community Hospital in Bakersfield, California. He was not hospitalized.
