Employee Is Injured When Struck by Fallen Framed Wall

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on March 11, 2011, Employee #1 and a coworker were making adjustments to a framed wall. As Employee #1 was working on the top plate of the wall and the coworker on the bottom plate, a framed wall behind them fell. The wall measured 6.83 feet by 11. 83 feet and consisted of plywood sheathing. Employee #1 was struck in the back. Employee #1 was taken to Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, where he was hospitalized and treated for fractured ribs on his left side, fractured right ankle, crushed right heel, and a punctured lung. The accident investigation revealed that the fallen wall had been raised for a couple of hours before the incident occurred.
