Employee Falls Through Roof Opening, Sustains Fractures

At approximately 1:20 p.m. on August 20, 2008, Employee #1, a roofer, was working on the roof of a commercial building with another employee. Employee #1 lifted a piece of plywood sheathing and handed it to his coworker. As Employee #1 was giving it to the coworker he stepped forward onto a joist that was sitting in a hanger. It gave way and Employee #1 fell approximately 19 ft to the floor inside the store. Employee #1 sustained a broken arm and a fractured cheek bone and was hospitalized overnight.
