Employee's Finger Is Lacerated by Power Saw

On August 11, 2008, Employee #1, a laborer, was cutting plywood for supporting formwork. He was using a company Skilsaw, Model Number SHD 77M, with a 7.25-in. blade, to cut 10-in. by 10-in. by 0.75-in. pieces of plywood to 3-in. in length. He was holding the plywood with his left hand and cutting with right when the blade became caught in the plywood. He attempted to unjam the blade by pulling up on the saw. The saw blade jumped and made contact with his latex gloved covered hand. His left index finger was lacerated and he was hospitalized.
